A Note From the Founder

The Iron Magnolia is my ongoing love letter to the Black South.

For years, I've been traveling back roads, visiting historic sites, listening to elders, collecting stories, and trying to understand better the places and people that shaped me. This journal is one expression of that work.

Inside you'll find field notes, reflections, cultural memory, and stories rooted in the people, places, and traditions that continue to define Southern life.

Got a story I should know about?

Do you know a community keeper, family historian, artist, elder, organizer, church mother, musician, or place rooted in the Black South?

Are you hosting an event, preserving local history, or carrying a story that deserves to be remembered?

I'd love to hear from you.
